Email Sync Setup

So you’ve decided to try out Walbux’s Email Sync option -- fantastic!  We think it’s one of the best parts of Walbux, and we hope you will too.

For Email Sync to work, you need to tell your bank to send you email alerts any time money leaves/enters your account (or is charged to your credit card).  If you don’t get an email about it, Walbux doesn’t know it happened.

Step 1 - Obtain your Walbux Sync Address

In your Walbux account, go to Settings > Email Sync.  You’ll see an email address labeled “My address” which will look something like:
sync-3_1195@walbux.com

This is a unique address that Walbux created for you upon registration.

Step 2 - Add your Walbux Sync Address as a Contact Email in your bank account

Navigate to your Email Address settings in your online banking portal.

Add your Walbux Sync Address (obtained in Step 1) as a new email address.

*Most banks allow users to have multiple email addresses on file, and to choose which of these addresses to use for a particular email alert.  If your bank only allows one email address, you will need to change it to your Walbux Sync Address. Walbux will forward you any emails that aren’t related to new transactions, so you will still receive important communications from your bank.

Step 3 - Enable Related Email Alerts

The alert options you can select from will depend on your bank, but all alerts can essentially be classified under 1 of 3 categories:

Money In/Out alerts debit/credit card charges, bill payments, deposits, wire transfers, etc.
General alerts low balance, overdrafts, temporary holds, daily account summaries
Security alerts email/password has been updated
Money In/Out alerts debit/credit card charges, bill payments, deposits, wire transfers, etc.  General alerts low balance, overdrafts, temporary holds, daily account summaries  Security alerts email/password has been updated */ ?>

Alerts of the first category (Money In/Out alerts) are the only ones we need.  You’re welcome to enable alerts of the other categories if you wish, but they will have no impact on Walbux.

If you think an alert might be relevant to Walbux, enable it!  We will let you know if we scan an alert that isn’t relevant, at which point you know it’s safe to disable this alert if you’re not interested in receiving it.

Some alerts are based on thresholds that you can modify, for example:  “Notify me if I spend more than $X with my debit card.”

You always want your threshold to be as low as possible.  If your institution won’t let you choose $0.00, try $0.01, or $1.00.
